116: Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Please take a minute to vote for Roomie over on TopWebcomics, where I said I’d be posting periodic updates on my senior project but so far have been too lazy to do that…
Want more pages a week? Of course you do! Donate to my coffee fund to fund more weekly updates! And remember to please send in questions for Patreon’s monthly Q&A! Leave a comment that starts with “Patreon Q&A” or send in a question here. Thanks!
So I have to take this comics studio class about 4 times before I can graduate (don’t worry the assignments are always different every year) and this semester is my last. And the final project is to write about pretty much anything and you have 6 pages to do it.
And of course I thought to myself: “I can either do something awesome and original and go out with a bang… Or I could be a cop-out and just write a prequel to my senior project.”
Of course I picked my senior project. It’s been going pretty well, although it came out 7 pages, and I don’t really feel like cutting it down.
oops…so it wasn´t orev about to make a grand entrance but rather the bad guy taking to the sky. well, shit! if the state of that exploding trash can is anything to go by, the baddie means business.
great work on that btw, the fire comes clearly from above and you can even make out how it leaves a dent in the can.
yes.
Nitpicking time: the street has no lane dividers so its a black river. In panel 1 its a normal alley with a raised sidewalk, but in later panels the alley connects to the street with sidewalks on it (so its more like a car lane).
But I do give props for cracks in the sidewalk and …. holy tar, you can see the lamp from panel 1 giving off light in panel 2.
And I have no idea why she blew up that trash can but I find it funny. I need to run but screw you trash can.
No, that’s not Yanshuf blowing up the trashcan. I’m fairly certain that it’s Shaqr flying above them and trying to throw fireballs at them from a distance and therefore missing them, but just barely. Hence, Yanshuf’s lines in the very next panel. She says that he’s fast and they just need to get out of his line of sight, so that they’re not sitting ducks, so to speak.
Yeah it was supposed to be Shaqr X’D I’LL DO BETTER NEXT TIME
Oh, I think I see the confusion now. Yanshuf put her arm out to stop/protect Mary. Kind of like how a parent automatically puts their arm out to protect their kid when they’re in a car and have to hit the brakes suddenly. Even though they’re buckled up, the parent’s reflexes to protect them kick in.
In doing so, it kind of made it look like the fireball was coming from Yanshuf’s hand. I would suggest maybe flipping the trashcan/fireball in such a way that the fireball comes from the other side, if that’s even doable.
OOOOH that makes sense. Yeah, I supposed the source of the fireball could be adjusted… Might be a quick enough fix to warrant a reupload…
EDIT: The deed is done, see what you think
Jess nailed it. The action lines came from the hands and so I thought she was the one who shot the fireball.
story time:
Well Micah said that she adjusted the source of the fireball but the image is the exact same here on Internet Explorer.
So I guess she didn’t upload it. Best just call her crazy and call it a day.
But that doesn’t make sense.
I check the same site on Firefox and here the image has been altered.
I guess the original image and the new image had the same file name “116f”. And I know that IE saves some kind of files onto my computer. So I guess when I accessed the website IE is all “same image name, therefore its the same image, let’s speed things up my showing the image we saved last time” since IE its faster to load saved images then to re-download all images.
I wipe my IE saved files with CCleaner and yup, now I can see the new modified image.
So I learned something new about web browsers. And that Yanshuf didn’t shoot first.
Yeah browsers do funny things with caches. Usually a Shift-Control-R will do the same thing XD
Well, this feels awkward. I’ve never had to correct anyone about pronouns before. According to their twitter account, Micah’s preferred pronouns are they & them. I realize it’s an adjustment for most people, of course, but I think Micah would prefer it if you referred to them by the proper pronouns.
Also, Micah, I hope I am not overstepping here by correcting someone’s language. I’m sure it happens a lot, but it still bothers me to see you being misgendered, even though I realize it’s probably unintentional.
Oh, no, I don’t mind, thank you X’D
A lot of people still use she/hers for me and while it does bother me, I ran out of the energy to correct people. So thanks, really.
And don’t worry too much, Bob, I don’t plaster my pronouns everywhere so it’s understandable if you missed it
As for the backgrounds, good point, good point. I draw them separately and bring them in as needed, so sometimes there’s continuity errors. I’m getting better, though, glad you noticed the lamp!
