Survived the surgery! Recovery wasn’t all that bad. I don’t know how this surgery puts people out for 2 weeks I felt fine after 4 days

Yes, computer is a machine for computing, and during the course of this conversation, the computer did more computations than most humans do during their whole life just rendering the GUI.
So dude is unaware of computers. That puts them at pre-1950s for the laymans.
I don’t know. The first typewriters worked similarly, but with paper, instead of a screen. I’d say that puts them at pre-1880s.
That narrows it down. (My estimate was “sometimes in the 1800s” from the trackless engine comment.
