029: In which Mary definitely did not remember that
Update on the environments sketchbook. I went through and did some detail of Mary and Hugh’s apartment and realized the floor plan made no sense in a few places. So things have been redesigned, but I don’t feel like going back and fixing the pages that have already been pencilled. So… Don’t be confused if things start to move around after about page 60…
The thing I notice about the hallway is that there is nothing to notice about the hallway. No trash on the floor, no trashcan, no posters (unlike the room she is currently in), no TV, no stains or bends of any kind, no rugs, no electric outlets, no lights on the ceiling, the fact that the hallway is huge width wise, no door number, no windows etc.
Also the lighting is really bright for whatever o’clock late at night.
I dig how she runs away. Now they can’t catch me!
That kind of extra level of detail in backgrounds is definitely a weakness of mine. Rest assured they are improving (I inked this page almost a month ago so when improvements happen they may take a while to become visible). So thanks for the tips!
I’m interested in seeing where the story goes, but I just realized that there’s a letter missing from the title. Maybe you’ve heard this already, but there are two m’s in roommate. I realized it was misspelled when I couldn’t find it on Top Web Comics. I had to search for “The Roomate From Hell” to find it. Not super important, I suppose. Anyway, I’ve been trying to figure out if Hugh is supposed to be a demon or a vampire. I know the title implies that he’s from hell, but his schedule seems to imply that he’s a vampire. I mean, he doesn’t seem to like his job, so maybe he works at night just so he can sleep during the day. But please don’t tell me. I’d rather be surprised. I’m very interested to see how Mary finds out and how she reacts. I’m definitely going to be reading this webcomic three times a week until it reaches its conclusion, even if it takes a few years.
There IS a mispelling. I haven’t decided if I’m gonna leave it that way or not. Misspellings can be copyrighted, after all. But also if it makes it harder to find maybe I should change it before my branding goes too deep.
I’m so happy to hear your theorizing about Hugh! You have no idea. I’m try keep that plot point a secret but having most of my fans be my friends who already know the story, it’s hard to enjoy hearing it from an outside perspective. So I’m glad you could lend me your thoughts!
(I had to edit this because when I replied from my phone I didn’t see your whole message and only replied to some of it .-.)
