003: In which Mary meets Hugh in person

So I had this plan for a few chapters out from here for Mary’s love interest. They were all designed and everything. But then I was working on Mary’s friend group, using some characters recycled from another thing that never took off, and one of them is like nOPE I’M GONNA DATE MARY INSTEAD.
So this is a problem.
